The records arrived Mar 2, just prior to my departure overseas, and a couple hundred were sent to radio and media. Now I'm back in Canada after a successful and eminently enjoyable trip/tour in Israel, and the reviews are also slowly trickling in. One of the first, for your examination and approval: on Gonzo Online.
One last hiccup this morning over the artwork but all systems are go. The smell of fresh CD should soon be wafting through the rooms of this house. Mailing to radio and press at the end of the month. Stay tuned.
The record that I have been working on with Douglas (September) for the past 2 1/2 years...HAS BEEN MASTERED! This very day I picked up the DDPi disc from Peter Moore, who did a great job providing weight, density, and detail to Douglas' and my creation. We're planning a mid-April release, but as soon I get footage and figure out how to get iMovie happening, I'll post a short film with clips of each of the ten songs. Needless to add, very happy lad at this end of the computer connection.
While I carry on with my crew getting my new releases ready for you and the world beyond, Taras is getting closer to releasing the Nick Drake cover record he's been producing, lo these many years. Back in June 2007 I was the second musician to commit a track to "tape"; playing Wiessenborn I chose to sing 'Northern Sky.' Mr P. has posted the track on soundcloud. Please have a listen, leave a comment, and commit to buying a copy of the VINYL LP when it comes out. I'm pleased as punch and proud as a peacock to be part of this Petryk project.
The biggest news is that I set this page up with my own two hands, with big thanks to Taras for last week's tutorial. And now (Oct 23) that Mr Petryk has taken it from the realm of the rudimentary to make it fit the rest of the site, I am comfortable talking to you again. Please come back often. Thanks for being a part of my musical world.
Just learned that Rehan Dalal's cover of "Red Red Bird" which appears on his brand new EP 'This Too Shall Pass' will be featured as the Song of the Week on CBC's Radio One next week. I give thanks...
And just in case you weren't there--the gig last weekend at Acoustic Village (thanks Julia, thanks Bill) went swimmingly. Videos of the entire set (all the tunes, without the prattle between them) can be found at theacousticvillage.ca...
