Big Bright Moon
it’s a big bright moon
I would wear it round my neck
like a silver locket filled
with stone and hair that my lover kept
as near as heaven seemed
it was here that heaven stood
like that big bright moon
big bright big bright moon
I bent but I never broke
never closed my eyes to kiss her hand
and I never let her walk me off
the cliff into her wondrous land
she’s gone for good
I don’t know why I feel so bad
it’s that big bright moon
big bright moon tell me what I had
tell me now what it was back then
I don’t remember what I felt
was I really hard as obsidian
and was that anybody’s fault
tell me now what it was back then
I don’t know what to think or say
on the deep the drunken man
on the bateau ivre starts to sway
we were sweet in summer’s hands
might have thought we’d stay forever green
you see the hammock it barely swung
yet I could sense how much that moment did mean
brilliant as light
she smiled on everyone
like that big bright moon
big bright big bright moon
Waiting on Your Love
